Historic New England and iMarc have blurred the lines between old and new by making it easy to explore a vast collection of historic artifacts. Sites ranging from Huffington Post to Curbed have been curating their own collections and bringing them to new audiences.
Although Historic New England is best known for its thirty-six museum properties, it also holds a collection of more than 110,000 antique objects, half of which are on view at the Historic New England museums, and half of which are preserved at a storage and conservation facility in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
One of its most significant collections is historic wallpaper. With more than 6,000 samples, Historic New England holds the largest collection of historic wallpaper in New England, and one of the two oldest in the United States. The organization’s wallpaper collection has been a tool for researchers and scholars and inspiration for home-décor enthusiasts for decades.
