Changing Fashions Through the Centuries

Historic New England’s collection of clothing, shoes, hats, and other accessories offers extraordinary details about life in New England.

Highlights include a man’s wool suit worn during the American Revolution, a child’s suit from the 1860s made from cotton and printed to support the Union, and a 1969 basket purse made by a Passamaquoddy artist in Maine. A new exhibition, Head to Toe: Hat and Shoe Fashions from Historic New England, is on view at the Eustis Estate in Milton, Massachusetts, through February 2019.
