Open Landscapes

Many of our landscapes and grounds are open to the public for free daily from dusk to dawn, including those at:

Exterior of the 1690 manor house at Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm

Greenhouse Sales

The Lyman Estate Greenhouses in Waltham, Massachusetts, are open and selling plants through the holiday season. Stop by Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Decorated House Museums

Several Historic New England house museums will have exterior holiday decorations. As you drive through Maine, look out for wreaths at Sarah Orne Jewett House Museum and Visitor Center in South Berwick, or stop in Wiscasset to view window candles and wreaths at Nickels-Sortwell House.

Casey Farm will glow through the holidays with window candles, wreaths on the gates, and one giant wreath on the barn.

Roseland Cottage will have a decorated tree for this year’s virtual 2020 Tree of Life Ceremony, available for streaming on Sunday, December 13. The tree will remain lit through all of December.

The Eustis Estate’s interiors will have classic Victorian-style decorations for you to enjoy through January 10.

Holiday Events

We have plenty of events at the Eustis Estate perfect for celebrating the season, including:

On Saturday, December 5, for the fourth year in a row, Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm will be a pick-up location for Christmas Tree Santas, an organization that works with local social service agencies to provide holiday trees and decorations. Each child is also offered a gift.

On Sundays, November 22 and December 13, Casey Farm will have two holiday markets. Locally grown and prepared foods and locally crafted gifts are for sale. Specialty items from the Historic New England’s farms in Rhode Island include Casey Farm organic vegetables like onions, winter squash, and cooking greens and Rhody Warm wool blankets from the sheep at Watson Farm.

Can’t make it to one of our in-person events? Don’t miss The Spirit of Christmas Past: Four Centuries of Christmas in New England on Wednesday, December 2, an illustrated virtual lecture about the evolution of Christmas celebrations in New England from the time it was outlawed in the seventeenth century through the beginning of the twenty-first century.

Visit our Events page for the most up-to-date virtual and in-person event listings through the holiday season.
