Honor the role of women in New England history with these special programs during Women’s History Month

On March 16, Dr. Susan J. Montgomery presents Let Our Ancestors Rest in Peace: The Field-Hodges House and the Legacy of Sarah Moore Field, a virtual talk highlighting an innovative approach to preserving this historic site.

On March 23, join us for Photography, Democracy, and Race in the 19th Century as Dr. Michelle Smiley explores American daguerreotype portraiture and its use both as a scientific instrument and a means of picturing loved ones.

Of course, women played important roles at many Historic New England sites over the centuries. From Eliza Susan Quincy at Quincy House (Quincy, Massachusetts) to Jane Tucker at Castle Tucker (Wiscasset, Maine), the women who recorded and saved their own family histories are the reason we can tell these stories today.
