LGBT seniors gather at Phillips House

Oct 4, 2011

The Phillips House in Salem, Massachusetts, recently hosted the North Shore Elder Services Over the Rainbow Coalition champagne reception.

The Over the Rainbow Coalition is an advocacy and meeting group for LGBT seniors, started just over a year ago in partnership with North Shore Elder Services. In August, the group won a national award for outreach to LGBT citizens in Essex County and beyond. On a monthly basis, the group hosts an “Old and Bold” supper club at the House of the Seven Gables.

At the Phillips House reception, guests enjoyed the festive atmosphere of the museum and tours of the carriage house. For many it was a first time visit to the 1821 Federal Style-mansion. Guests pledged to return for a full tour or one of the special programs offered over the winter months.
