Wednesday, May 25. Quincy Revolution: A Family Divided. Ages 7-14. History. Quincy House, Quincy, Mass. In 1770, Colonel Josiah Quincy I built Quincy House on his 250-acre country estate. Colonel Quincy and his son Josiah were devoted patriots, but his son Samuel was a loyalist who left for England after the battles at Lexington and Concord and never returned to America. The Revolution divided the family forever. In this program, participants go on a scavenger hunt inside Quincy House to find artifacts relevant to the Revolutionary War era, work together to construct a timeline of events leading up to the Boston Massacre, analyze primary source documents, and write with a quill pen. At the end of the program, students re-enact the Boston Massacre Trial, where Josiah Jr. defended the British soldiers while Samuel prosecuted them. Please note: This program takes place entirely within the Quincy House Museum, and due to space restrictions and the academic content, is not suitable for younger siblings.

SOLD OUT

Monday, June 13. The Importance of Pollinators. Ages 6-14. Science and Ecology. Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, Newbury, Mass. Explore the farm on a butterfly safari, learn about native and non-native plant species, and get your hands dirty working in our pollinator garden. Throughout the morning, we gather knowledge and materials to take home for use in creating our own attractive, environmentally sound, and nutrient-rich habitats for vital pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Please note: This program will take place fully outside. Please dress for the weather and for the dirt! Younger siblings are welcome.
